  The October of 2020 marked a turning point in his political career. He was now able to serve as the councilor of Ward No. 134 in the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation. This was achieved on the Congress party’s ticket, making it even sweeter considering the party had been struggling for the seat for over 25 years. Sharma’s success can be attributed to his perseverance and effort, but he himself ascribes the victory to the blessings of his team, parents, and Lord Bholenath and Lord Ram. Karan Sharma’s victory at a congress party was most impressive given that the seat had been held by a BJP member for over twenty years. Today, Sharma is the General Secretary of the Jaipur Congress Committee and is widely experienced in handling a host of political matters. At the age of 26, he managed to contest and win a seat that the BJP had consistently held for a quarter of a century. His win allowed him to become a councilor and the city of Jaipur was flooded with praises. His achievement and dedication have made him a household name in the city as well as among many political circles in Rajasthan. This became evident when he joined the Congress party, and even further, when he joined the Nationalist Congress Party in 2008.
